Three Weeks Shy of a Year
August 4, 2007By: Howard Y
Nearly a year ago, my Sister In-Law wanted to develop a site where she could post and sell her antiques and collectibles for a modest listing fee.
She, like other Ebay users, have grown tired of every increasing fees. Add a photo, 50 cents, you want it bold we charge you more, etc.
There’s really no need to run up the cost of a listing where the basic per unit cost is fixed regardless of the price. In terms of storage, the cost to store a photo costs about the same as “a thousand words.”
So our goal is to provide excellent service and allow the customer create their own sales pages with photos, videos at one low price.
Over the past year, we’ve been kicking around all types of pricing models, from free to membership based. We are pointing in the direction of a single listing fee.
Do you think this is the right direction?
